This weekend, TJ Zizzo and his Rust-Oleum-sponsored Top Fuel dragster will compete at the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 Nationals, aiming to build on last year’s success when they achieved the No. 1 qualifier and reached the quarterfinals. With over two decades of racing experience, Zizzo Racing has been refining their program and feels well-prepared for this season. Zizzo expressed confidence in their improvements, stating, “We have all the parts and experience to turn on more win lights on race day.”

After introducing a new race car two years ago, the team, led by crew chief Mike Kern, has worked diligently during the off-season to ensure competitiveness. Zizzo highlighted the team’s efficiency and dedication, saying, “I can’t wait to get on the track in Chicago this weekend.” Historically, Zizzo has had notable runs, including semifinals appearances in 2017 and 2023, and recent quarterfinal finishes in four of his last five attempts at the event.

This year, Zizzo aims to create more memorable moments, emphasizing the importance of fan interaction, including a pancake breakfast at the race. Qualifying starts on May 16, with sessions scheduled through the weekend, culminating in the race for the Wally trophy on Sunday. The race will be broadcast nationally on FS1 Sunday evening.
