After beginning the season in Columbus, Ohio, this win brought him immense joy, as he noted, “This has been a long journey… when you surround yourself with good people, you’re bound to succeed.”

Smith expressed gratitude to the Samsel family for their support and shared that he aimed for victory from the outset. He has competed with the same dragster previously driven by Jamie Noonan and celebrated the car’s familiarity. Winning felt surreal to Smith, who recounted a motivational sign in his living room reminding him to persevere.
