Veteran tuner Rob Flynn confirmed that he will serve as crew chief for Tony Schumacher, the most successful driver in Top Fuel history, when he returns to racing this season with Rick Ware Racing. Flynn, who was not seeking a job change but decided to continue his career after the Salinas family halted their racing efforts, reached out to Jim Oberhofer, leading to discussions that resulted in his new role. Flynn has a history of working with Oberhofer, as well as with Nicky Boninfante at Kalitta Motorsports, and has also previously teamed up with Clay Millican.

In addition, Jesse Snyder, formerly Doug Kalitta’s car chief, will also join Rick Ware Racing. Flynn expressed excitement about the team, noting a strong presence of former Kalitta personnel, which creates a familiar and comfortable environment. This will be Flynn’s inaugural experience working with Schumacher, previously a rival, and he acknowledged Schumacher’s impressive credentials. He mentioned that their car setups would be quite similar, although Schumacher will be driving a canopy car, a new aspect for Flynn.

While there is no specific timetable for Schumacher’s season debut, Flynn indicated that the team would begin testing soon. Overall, the collaboration aims to leverage their combined experience to achieve success on the track.
