Four-time NHRA Top Fuel world champion Steve Torrence is set to wrap up his season at the Texas Fall Nationals, a race that holds significant personal and professional importance for him. With 56 career victories, Torrence regards the Texas Motorplex, where he has competed for over a decade, as a home venue. This year’s event is particularly poignant, as he plans to skip the last two races of the year to prioritize family commitments.

“With the championship pretty much out of our reach,” Torrence explained, “going out west for the last two races really didn’t make much sense,” especially with the upcoming holidays. This shift reflects his changing priorities, balancing competitive racing with responsibilities at CAPCO, his family’s pipeline construction company. Nevertheless, Torrence remains focused on performance, aiming to continue his streak of 13 consecutive seasons with at least one No. 1 qualifying start.

Having already clinched a win this season at the Thunder Valley Nationals, he is enthusiastic about the upcoming race, emphasizing that the goal is always to win, irrespective of starting position. The Texas Motorplex holds a wealth of memories for Torrence, particularly his emotional 2020 victory against his father in the finals. “Texas is home,” he affirmed, appreciating the unique energy and support from friends and family that motivates him to succeed one last time this season.
