Steve Torrence, a four-time Top Fuel world champion, celebrated a victory at Virginia Motorsports Park on Saturday, winning the Mission Foods 2Fast/2Tasty Challenge ahead of the American Rebel Light Beer Virginia Nationals. The 42-year-old Texan drove his CAPCO Contractors Top Fuel Toyota to a time of 3.877 seconds at 324.28 mph, defeating Shawn Langdon’s 3.927 at 325.45 mph in the final.

This win marked Torrence’s fifth in the three-year bonus program, which rewards successful semifinalists and contributes points to the Countdown to the Championship. “The points we get here will help after the Countdown resets,” Torrence noted, acknowledging the importance of accumulating points after a rocky start to the season.

Showcasing improved consistency, he qualified third for Sunday’s feature with strong times of 3.883, 3.888, and the aforementioned 3.877 seconds, earning seven qualifying bonus points—the highest since March 2024. This consistency marks a notable return after struggling in recent seasons, with Torrence stating, “We’re just going to keep on doing what we’re doing.”

As the third qualifier, Torrence will face Josh Hart in the first round and could potentially meet Justin Ashley, whom he defeated in the Bristol final. Fans can catch the qualifying and challenge coverage on FOX TV at 1 p.m. Texas time, leading into the Virginia Nationals race at 3 p.m.
