Tom “Jimmy Dale” Gunner, a dynamic personality in drag racing, is set to drive Rob Kohler’s renowned fourth-generation Camaro in Limited Drag Radial (LDR), making his debut at the upcoming U.S. Street Nationals, part of the Drag Illustrated Winter Series. Gunner arrives in LDR after excelling as a small-tire racer, having recently won the inaugural Lil’ Gangstas Shootout at the 2025 Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod. His reputation has soared due to strong performances and a vibrant online presence that resonates with fans.

The Camaro, previously driven by Lyle Barnett, is capable of impressive runs, previously hitting times in the low 3.90s in the eighth-mile. Barnett expressed his excitement about Gunner joining the competitive scene, highlighting his passion for the sport and ability to elevate drag racing’s profile. Kohler emphasized the impressive track record of Gunner and his partner Michael Poland, stating that their success warrants a chance in a competitive vehicle for the 2026 season.

Poland reminisced about their journey together, praising Gunner’s calm demeanor behind the wheel, contrasting with his exuberant personality off-track. Gunner himself expressed gratitude for the opportunity, reflecting on how quickly his journey has progressed from racing in an abandoned parking lot to joining elite ranks. He aims to propel Jimmy Dale Racing to new heights, starting with testing the Camaro ahead of the U.S. Street Nationals in Bradenton.
