Tasca Racing launched the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season at the Gatornationals in Gainesville, showcasing the debut of Austin Prock in the PPG Nitro Mustang Dark Horse Funny Car. This event marked the first official outing for the new Prock-led team, with Jimmy Prock as chief.

In Friday’s opening qualifying, Prock faced tough track conditions but managed a 4.836-second pass at 217.74 mph, placing sixth in the field despite experiencing early tire shake. “The track was tricky… we were just trying to go A to B,” Prock remarked.

During the second session, he recorded a strong reaction time but lost traction, finishing with a 6.428-second run, which dropped the team to 12th. The third session showed promise with his best reaction time at 0.067 seconds, but again, the Mustang encountered tire issues, resulting in a 5.493-second pass.

The fourth qualifying session presented further challenges due to an oil-down incident. Prock struggled with traction, concluding with a 7.562-second run and ultimately failing to qualify for Sunday eliminations.

Prock expressed disappointment but remained optimistic: “Everything that could go wrong… happened. But we’re not discouraged.” He drew a comparison to his father’s early struggles at Don Schumacher Racing, emphasizing a commitment to improvement. As the team prepares for the next race in Phoenix, confidence in their capabilities remains high.
