ICU Racing

During a qualifying round at the World Cup Finals at Maryland International Raceway, racers Joel Grannas and Vlad Yeutushenko were involved in a serious crash that resulted in the destruction of both of their cars—a Toyota Supra and a newly-built Supra. Grannas’s car malfunctioned, veering off course and colliding with Yeutushenko’s vehicle, prompting a brief fire and significant damage. Despite the incident, Yeutushenko expressed no hard feelings toward Grannas, recognizing the unpredictable nature of racing. He emphasized his emotional attachment to his car, which he had meticulously built over countless hours and resources.

In response to the situation, Grannas felt compelled to help Yeutushenko. He decided to donate all profits from merchandise sales over the weekend to assist with the repairs of Yeutushenko’s car. The racing community rallied around this initiative, generating a notable $40,000 for Yeutushenko. Grannas expressed pride in the community’s support, hoping the funds would aid Yeutushenko in his journey to rebuild and return to racing.

Yeutushenko was profoundly touched by Grannas’s gesture and the collective support, stating he couldn’t accept donations without committing to rebuild his car. He spoke warmly of Grannas, showing gratitude for the solidarity within the racing community, underscoring the camaraderie present among racers despite the risks involved.
