At the season-opening Southern California Super Street Association doubleheader at Famoso Dragstrip on March 28-29, 2026, Mark Simonian from Sanger, California, and Jordan Yeager from Hollister, California, were the standout winners. Simonian currently leads the points standings with 1,225, closely followed by Yeager with 1,208 points.

James Brown, a two-time NHRA Pacific Division champion, qualified first for the Val Houmard Memorial race with a time of 10.902 in his ’90 Olds Cutlass, securing the Mechanix Wear bonus. The top qualifiers included Simonian, Gary Mignacca, and Kelly Giacalone. In the semifinals, Simonian advanced by defeating Giacalone, while Peter Yoon reached the finals via a bye. Ultimately, Simonian clinched victory with a time of 10.923, edging out Yoon.

For the second race sponsored by Pizazz Racing, qualifying leaders were Wes Anderson and rookie Scott Brown, with Anderson also earning the Mechanix Wear award. Yeager triumphed over the first race’s runner-up, Yoon, before defeating Simonian in a closely contested second round. Yeager defeated Dale Taros in the final, posting a time of 10.925 in his ’69 Camaro.

As the season progresses, Simonian holds a 17-point lead over Yeager. With Peter Yoon, Kelly Giacalone, and Dale Taros following in the standings, the next races are set for May 16-17 at Famoso. Sponsors for this series include Able Wire EDM, Pizazz Racing, Crew Chief Pro, and others.
