Three-time NHRA Funny Car world champion Robert Hight officially announced his retirement from drag racing and his role as President of John Force Racing, expressing a desire to prioritize family time. Reflecting on his 30 years with the team, Hight noted that his absence from racing last year helped him realize his aspirations outside the sport, particularly with his wife, Leslie, and daughter, Autumn. John Force, Hight’s long-time mentor, acknowledged the significant contributions Hight made to the team’s success and supported his decision, emphasizing the importance of family.

Hight’s departure follows health concerns that led to his absence in 2024, where he did not make public appearances amid John Force’s recovery from a crash. Hight’s impressive career began in 1995 with Force’s team, where he initially served as Facilities Manager and then as the first designated test driver. He debuted in 2005, winning rookie of the year honors and went on to secure 65 victories and three championships. Alongside his racing career, Hight has recently ventured into business, acquiring Shotgun Works, a Utah-based firearm accessory company. He is committed to running the business full-time, building on his machining skills to ensure its success after training with the founder, Tom Wilkinson.
