Big man Frank is hard at work again. This time, he’s tracked down a grudge race between a pair of gently modified daily drivers. Shall we drop in and see what all the fuss is about?
In the right lane is the Pontiac G8 GT. Assembled in Australia, the GT version of the rear-wheel drive G8 sedan came with a naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V8 engine rated at 361hp. The stock G8 wasn’t up to snuff for street racing so this owner added an LSA blower, a high-performance camshaft and an E85 tune. Now this Aussie Poncho is laying down some serious rubber on the way to victory lane. Question is: Does this Pontiac have enough get-up-and-go to slide by the Hellcat?
Oh yeah, the dreaded Challenger Hellcat. She’s a heavy pig at 4,515 pounds but she’s packing plenty of punch. This Hell-Kitty is loaded with a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 that can produce 797hp and 707 lb.-ft. of torque. In factory condition, this portly Mopar could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7-seconds and turn the standing quarter-mile in 11.8-seconds @ 125 mph. The only modifications to this Hellcat include a cat delete kit, a cold air intake setup and a performance tune. He’s running premium pump gas.
Whadda ya say we get these two stallions on the open road and gauge the intensity of this grudge.
