Randy Shipp owns a striking 1960 Corvette that has transitioned from a lively street car to a formidable competitor in the Super Street drag racing class. As a dedicated fan of classic Corvettes, Randy was eager to add this car to his collection for years. He finally purchased it from a friend, Randy Warford, who had owned the vehicle for a decade.

This Corvette retains its original body panels and chrome trim, which Randy takes great pride in, emphasizing its authenticity. The car’s design offers exceptional visibility, enhancing the driving experience during races.

To compete effectively, Randy upgraded the vehicle with a powerful 565 cubic inch big-block engine from Badman Racing Engines, paired with a robust Powerglide transmission. The impressive horsepower is channeled through a 4-link suspension and a 9-inch rearend, equipped with large slick tires. With these modifications, the Corvette is capable of impressive speeds, clocking in deep into the 8.90s at 150 mph, well within the competitive standards of the Super Street class. Randy’s dedication to maintaining and enhancing this classic car not only showcases his love for Corvettes but also his commitment to competitive racing.
