The 35th Annual Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals took place at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH, attracting Pontiac enthusiasts with diverse events such as drag racing, a swap meet, and a car show. Highlights included a wheelie contest, activities for kids, and an exhibition featuring iconic cars. A Saturday night buffet added to the festive atmosphere, while legends like Arnie Beswick and the Eastbound and Down Smokey and the Bandit tribute group made special appearances.

Among the standout vehicles, Tracey Greshaw showcased the “White Tiger” Firebird, and Tom Kurak’s 1953 Pontiac Chieftain won the Best Appearing Car Award. Joel Larkin impressed spectators with his wheelstanding Super Stock Firebird, while Tyler Shenuk drove the notable “Jerry Eckman/Bill Orndorff” Firebird Pro Stock. Other remarkable entries included a blown Pontiac Tempest wagon, Ed Kasicki’s “Phenomenon” 33 Willys with the ScottRods AA/Gasser group, and the Pontiac Ventura “War Chief” Nostalgia Super Stocker.

The event also featured several wheelstanding Pontiacs, including the “Indian Uprising” GTO and Mike Cooper’s Top Sportsman Firebird, showcasing the prowess and enthusiasm of the Pontiac community. The gathering served as a vibrant celebration of Pontiac culture and drag racing, bringing together fans and collectors alike.
