Due to an impending Pacific storm, NHRA officials expedited the completion of all Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series eliminations on Thursday at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals in Pomona. This swift decision resulted in a high-stakes day where both national event winners and world champions emerged in a single day.

The condensed schedule was significant for Sportsman competitors, with five drivers clinching Lucas Oil world championships. Notably, two racers achieved the rare feat of winning their event and securing their championships on the same day.

Among those crowned champions were Jeff Taylor (Comp Eliminator), Chad Webber (Super Comp), JJ Brock (Super Gas), Casey Plazier (Right Trailers Top Dragster), and Darian Boesch (Right Trailers Top Sportsman). Webber and Plazier notably celebrated their titles and event victories together, a rare accomplishment in the season finale.

The day also saw the completion of national-event eliminations, producing winners across various categories: Jason Grima (Comp), John Calvert (Super Stock), Leo Glasbrenner (Stock), Chad Webber (Super Comp), Ed DeStaute (Super Gas), Casey Plazier (Top Dragster), and Bryan Warr (Top Sportsman).

As the Sportsman events concluded, focus shifted to professional categories, with Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle set to begin qualifying on Friday, leading into the continuation of championship battles throughout the weekend.
