The OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car series recently held an event at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, after two stops at Sebring and NOLA Motorsports Park. As competitors accumulate points from their two best finishes, the standings remain uncertain until the series returns to the West Coast later this season.

Duke Langley’s ’02 Corvette dominated the weekend, achieving a perfect score and tying Danny Weller’s ’19 Camaro for first in points. Meanwhile, Brian Hobaugh’s ’73 Camaro won the Speedtech GTV Class, placing him in sixth overall. In the GTT Class for trucks, David Carroll’s Blazer emerged victorious, leading the two entries from Laguna Seca.

A notable battle is developing in the After Dark Speed GTS class, led by Bob Sobey’s ’13 Nissan GT-R, who has already secured his OUSCI invitation. CB Ramey’s newly built ’68 Porsche 912 won its class but also qualified him for OUSCI, adding intrigue to his decision between vehicles for the finale.

In the GTC Class, Jordan Filip’s ’03 Corolla took home a win, moving him to third in overall points. Lastly, the GT Class saw defending champion Dave Schotz take his season debut, edging out Matt Ramirez, while James Thomas’ ’16 Shelby GT350 remains at the top of the standings.

The series continues with three East Coast events beginning May 30 in Pittsburgh, before returning to Thunderhill in October. For more details, visit www.DriveOPTIMA.com.
