The Northern Michigan Dragway kicked off its 2025 racing season with a thrilling opener for the Authentic 231 Racing Series, attracting over 170 entries in six classes, despite morning temperatures hovering in the 30s.

Three-time Bracket I champion Bud Roof from East Jordan showcased his prowess, achieving an impressive elapsed time of 4.78 seconds in five out of six rounds. He secured an opening day victory and topped the points standings with a $1,000 win in his dragster. In Bracket II, Kalkaska’s Dustin Cesaro celebrated an emotional victory, driving his Chevy S-10 to a $1,200 win, with his young son Brantley making an unforgettable semi-final debut in Mini Juniors.

The Pro Trophy class featured the largest turnout, with Jeremy Loose of Gladwin winning in his Chevy El Camino. In a memorable moment, Jeanette Jamison from Manistee celebrated her first-ever victory in the Street Trophy class with her Pontiac Firebird.

Both Junior divisions also produced first-time winners: Tanner Savich from Fountain triumphed in the Advanced Junior Division, while Maelynn Teachout from Brethren achieved victory in Mini Juniors.

Northern Michigan Dragway will pause next weekend for Mother’s Day, resuming racing activities on May 16 and 17, including the Statewide Towing Street Nights series. For a complete schedule and points standings, see NorthernMichiganDragway.com.
