The Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) has adjusted its schedule for the upcoming event at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan, moving it to July 31–August 1. This change aims to foster support for both the venue and the NHRA Great Lakes Nationals set for September. MWDRS founder Keith Haney highlighted the enduring passion racers have for the Martin track and expressed pride in backing both US 131 and the NHRA.

To amplify interest in the August event, MWDRS is increasing prize money across several classes. The bonuses announced include an additional $2,000 for Pro Mod Slammers and $1,000 each for Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. Furthermore, MWDRS is contributing an extra $250 to the Pro Junior Dragster and Sportsman Junior Dragster classes.

Haney underscored the importance of collaboration with the Peterson family and the tradition of Northern Nationals, noting that despite not hosting a race in July or August for the past three years, the schedule adjustment aims to build excitement around the NHRA event and reinforce relationships within the drag racing community.

The Michigan stop has gained significant anticipation in the MWDRS calendar, drawing devoted local fan support and substantial racer participation. The adjustments and enhanced purse structure are designed to strengthen the event’s prominence while contributing positively to the broader drag racing landscape.
