At the RAD Torque Systems Fall Fling presented by OPTIMA Batteries, Kevin Pruett triumphed in a high-stakes atmosphere at Bristol Dragway, clinching the first $75,000 main event of the weekend with his Chevy II wagon. The event drew an impressive 418 single-entry drivers for the combined ADVANCED Product Design and ATI Performance Products race. Pruett showcased exceptional skill, posting a remarkable .018 package in the final against Matt Schapiro, who drove a dragster from New Jersey. His .012 light and precise dead-on-six lap led to his first Fling victory, positioning him at the forefront of the Robco Residential Fall Fling Points Championship ahead of a second $75K event.

The semifinals were rife with tension, notably when multi-time winner Jeremy York was disqualified for a slight red light against Schapiro, who maintained a .013 green light. Meanwhile, Pruett advanced effortlessly through his bye run to the finals. The quarterfinals featured an even mix of door cars and dragsters, with notable competitors like Greg Brown, Gage Burch, Lane Dicken, York, and Schapiro in contention. Burch narrowly fell to Schapiro after a .001 red light, while York edged out Brown in a tight finish. Pruett’s precision racing, including a .006 total against Dicken, ultimately sealed his victory, marking a significant moment in his racing career and solidifying his lead in the points championship.
