Doug Kalitta continues to establish himself as a formidable contender in Top Fuel racing, showcasing his prowess at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals. On Friday night, Kalitta recorded an impressive 3.671-second pass at 335.90 mph, securing the provisional No. 1 qualifying spot and earning the $4,000 Deecell Power Systems “After Dark Low Qualifier” award. Remarkably, this run fell just one-thousandth of a second short of the track record he set the previous year.

Kalitta expressed his optimism about the car’s performance, noting that he and his team made several adjustments due to tire smoke from other competitors. “When the thing left, I could tell it was really running,” he said. If this performance holds, it would mark Kalitta’s sixth No. 1 qualifier of the season; however, he still seeks his first win of 2025.

In the standings, Kalitta’s Kalitta Motorsports teammate Shawn Langdon follows closely in second place with a time of 3.689 seconds, while Brittany Force impressively clocked a 340.47 mph pass, securing third with a time of 3.703 seconds. This event demonstrates the intense competition and high stakes in the Top Fuel category as drivers continue to vie for supremacy. The excitement around Kalitta’s performance emphasizes his lasting reputation in the sport.
