At the NHRA Midwest Nationals, four drivers left with provisional No. 1 spots on Friday night. In Funny Car, Austin Prock clocked a 3.845 at 337.16 mph, achieving his fifth provisional No. 1 of the season and adding yet another bat to his collection. Prock praised the smoothness of his run despite the challenging track conditions.

Eric Latino claimed provisional No. 1 in Pro Stock with a 6.515 in his Chevrolet Camaro, narrowly edging out Dallas Glenn. Latino expressed disbelief at his success, emphasizing the difficulty of securing a top qualifier in Pro Stock.

In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Gaige Herrera secured a 6.741-second pass on his Suzuki, marking his seventh provisional No. 1 of the year. With the weather in his favor, Herrera remained focused on accumulating points as he competes against teammate Richard Gadson. Qualifying will continue on Saturday, with eliminations set for Sunday at World Wide Technology Raceway.
