John Force, a renowned 17-time Funny Car champion and three-time winner at Montreal’s le Grandnational, was honored with his induction into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame at a ceremony held at the John Bassett Theatre in Toronto. Although not Canadian by heritage, Force has deep connections to Canada, notably securing his first NHRA pro tour victory at the le Grandnational in June 1987. Currently recovering from a traumatic brain injury sustained in a June 2023 crash, Force delivered a video acceptance speech from his shop in California, expressing pride in receiving the honor and reminiscing about his early triumphs in Canada.

At 75, Force became the first drag racer inducted in the Hall of Fame’s International category, which recognizes significant contributions by non-Canadians. He joins illustrious figures such as Mario and Michael Andretti and Sir Jackie Stewart. The Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame, overseen by the Canadian Motorsports Heritage Foundation, has inducted 294 individuals over three decades, celebrating those who have impacted various racing disciplines. Force adds this latest honor to an impressive portfolio that includes previous inductions into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and the California Sports Hall of Fame. His legacy is further highlighted by the early induction of Bernie Fedderly, his co-crew chief, in 1995, among other notable figures in the motorsports community.
