The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) announced that the remaining events of the 2026 IHRA Nitro Drag Racing Series have been canceled due to operational challenges. After reviewing their schedule, IHRA management concluded that they could not maintain the quality, safety, and professionalism expected in their competition, leading to the difficult decision to end the season.

This cancellation specifically pertains to the Nitro Drag Racing Series; however, IHRA-owned drag racing facilities, weekly bracket racing, sportsman competitions, Team Finals, and the IHRA World Championship will continue as planned. Participants are encouraged to stay updated through their respective series and track communications.

IHRA President Dustin Farthing emphasized the organization’s commitment to its roots in drag racing and acknowledged that the racers are the foundation of IHRA. He stated that the focus will shift towards rebuilding the organization by investing in member tracks and grassroots racing, rather than compromising event standards for the sake of completing the schedule.

Farthing described this moment as a “reset” rather than an end, aiming to forge a stronger future for racers, tracks, sponsors, and fans. The IHRA expressed sincere gratitude to racers, teams, sponsors, volunteers, track operators, and fans for their continued support as the organization embarks on this new chapter.
