Founded over twenty years ago by Dave Hance, the original Shakedown envisioned a gathering of the best in drag racing. The MWDRS, led by Keith Haney and Ellen Eschenbacher, partnered with Donald “Duck” Long and Eric Dillard to introduce the Shakedown name to contemporary racing.
The event awarded championship points in Pro Mod, Top Sportsman, and Top Dragster, while also incorporating the Radial Outlaws Racing Series. Competitors faced cool temperatures and optimal track conditions, leading to thrilling performances.
The Pro Mod category was exceptionally competitive, with Robert Costa advancing to the finals after initially being eliminated at No. 17. Costa faced Jeff “The Sheriff” Rudolf, who secured his first MWDRS win and the Shakedown title with a time of 3.60 seconds.
In other classes, Craig Sullivan triumphed in the Slammers final with a career-best 3.57, and Lucas Salemi narrowly defeated reigning champion Jordan Eperjesi in Top Dragster. Jon Vesper clinched victory in Top Sportsman, propelling the Wells/Cannon team into the points lead.
The Shakedown at M-Town successfully upheld its esteemed reputation as the MWDRS looks forward to its next event at Flying H Dragstrip.
