Vonnie Mills, from Kennedyville, Maryland, has established a remarkable legacy in drag racing since the 1970s. What began as a teenage hobby with her now-husband, Eddie Mills, quickly evolved into an impressive four-decade career. Starting at just 16, she raced street cars and transitioned to NHRA Super Gas with her signature pink 1968 Camaro, “Show-N-Tell.” Mills made history in 1987 as the first woman to win in Super Gas at the NHRA Gatornationals, a feat she repeated in 1990.

Throughout her career, she has consistently excelled in various categories, including Super Gas and Super Comp, and achieved notable victories in Top Sportsman, such as championships in 2012 and 2015. In 2020, she secured her place in history as the first woman to win in NHRA Top Sportsman, emphasizing that family support remains central to her racing journey. Mills’ daughter Tiffany serves as her crew chief, and her family’s involvement enhances her victories.

Mills’ latest race car, a 2013 Jerry Bickel Camaro, has garnered attention for its design and performance. In 2023, she claimed the Elite Top Sportsman title at the PDRA World Finals, showcasing her adaptability with new equipment. With aspirations to win the U.S. Nationals, Mills embodies persistence and success throughout her illustrious journey in a male-dominated sport, proving that dedication and talent can defy barriers.
