After his impressive round-one victory over reigning Funny Car champion Austin Prock at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, veteran driver Bob Tasca III used his interview with FS1’s Amanda Busick to voice his frustration with FOX. His grievance centered on a promotional line from upcoming IndyCar commercials, aired during high-profile events like the NFL Super Bowl, which claimed the series was “the fastest racing on earth.” Tasca criticized this assertion as misleading, emphasizing that it disrespects both fans and drivers in the NHRA, where drivers like himself and Prock achieve remarkable speeds—341.68 mph, the fastest in drag racing history.

Tasca expressed disappointment over FOX’s decision to promote IndyCar as the fastest motorsport, especially considering the network is also the NHRA’s broadcast partner. He noted that while land-speed competitions are technically faster, they do not involve direct competition, and highlighted that NHRA categories regularly feature speeds that surpass even the fastest modern IndyCar, which can reach around 240 mph in qualifying. His remarks shed light on what he sees as a significant oversight by FOX and a misrepresentation of racing realities, at a time when they are gearing up to broadcast IndyCar events starting in 2025, raising questions about credibility in their racing promotions.
