Dennis White’s passion for drag racing ignited after attending a Funny Car show at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in 1966. The exhilarating experience of high-horsepower cars and the influence of local racer Dick Lore’s 1964 Fairlane Thunderbolt solidified his love for automotive culture. Growing up near Rod Tyler Ford fueled Dennis’s fascination, particularly with Fords. He began his racing journey with a 1965 Mustang as a bracket car and later restored a 1964 Fairlane Sport Coupe as a street car.

In 2010, Dennis discovered a fully restored 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 on eBay, which he subsequently modified into a competitive bracket car. Powering the Fairlane is a 347 cubic-inch small-block Ford engine, enhanced with AFR cylinder heads and an Edelbrock intake, complemented by a Holley 750-cfm carburetor.

Although initially uninterested in Super Street racing, Dennis was drawn in by the Fairlane’s impressive consistency, regularly achieving 10.90 passes. He embraced the challenge of tuning the car for NHRA Sportsman racing, finding enjoyment in the competition and camaraderie among fellow racers. What began as a mere spark of interest developed into a lifelong passion, filled with memorable moments at the racetrack and the thrill of building and racing his beloved Ford Fairlane. Dennis’s journey exemplifies how a single event can lead to a life dedicated to the exhilarating world of drag racing.
