The Midwest Class Racers season commenced over Memorial Day weekend at Tri-State Raceway during the NHRA Division 5 National Open, presented by Patterson Elite Performance.

On Saturday, 107 Super Stock/Super Street (S/SS) entries competed for a prize of $2,000. Bob Siegwarth was the top qualifier, achieving an impressive -1.453 under his FS/H index. The final pit saw two 2024 MCR champions, Jason DeForrest and Tony Henderson, face off, with DeForrest emerging victorious, marking his third final of the year after a prior win at the NHRA D5 Division event in St. Louis.

Sunday continued the competition with 103 S/SS entries. Siegwarth again secured the top qualifying position, this time running -1.488 under his index. In the final round, Michael Lund triumphed over Steve Hutar. Lund, who had previously won two MCR events in the last season, replicated his success from the prior year at the same event.

The Midwest Class Racers will next head to Marion, South Dakota, for another weekend of S/SA class racing on June 7-8, continuing their competitive season.
