Wasting Fuel Promotions hosted the inaugural Memorial Day Coal Rush Twenties at I-57 Dragstrip in Benton, IL, over the holiday weekend. Despite being cut short on Sunday due to weather, the events on Friday and Saturday proceeded as planned, with exciting outcomes.

On Friday, the $5K Warm-Up saw Kendall Jones emerge victorious, defeating Zach Jones in the final. Ryan Markham secured the No-Box bonus, while Wyatt Scales claimed victory in junior dragsters against Cohen Hale.

Saturday featured the main event, a $20K race, where Dan Johns triumphed over Jimmy Terhune to take home the grand prize. Rob Fisher won the No-Box bonus that day as well. Wyatt Scales continued his winning streak, once again defeating Cohen Hale in the junior dragster category, marking a successful weekend for him.

Megan Strassweg, a dedicated racer and journalist, has a passion for both drag racing and journalism.
