Veteran NHRA Funny Car driver Blake Alexander is set to compete this weekend at the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals held at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois. Driving the Pronto Auto Services Dodge//SRT Hellcat Funny Car for Chad Green Motorsports, Alexander aims to leverage recent performance improvements as the team seeks to regain its championship momentum.

A four-time NHRA national event winner, Alexander is recognized for his adaptability in the Funny Car arena. The Chad Green Motorsports team, which has demonstrated elite potential this season, currently has Chad Green positioned fourth in the Funny Car points standings after a victory at the NHRA Gatornationals. Despite strong qualifying performances, clutch issues have hindered the team’s ability to fully capitalize on race days.

Both drivers are optimistic heading into the Route 66 NHRA Nationals, believing they’ve made critical adjustments that could lead to race day success. Alexander mentioned enhancements to the car’s clutch program, which could significantly boost their performance, especially at a track known for producing fast times.

The race also offers an additional opportunity for Green to compete in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge, which rewards semifinalists with bonus points and cash. The overall goal for the team is to return to the winner’s circle and build on the progress achieved throughout the season, positioning themselves as a stronger competitor in the NHRA Funny Car category.
