ICU Racing

Buddy Hull, a former NHRA Funny Car racer, has transitioned into team ownership, embracing both freedom and increased responsibility. Known for his entrepreneurial spirit, Hull has juggled various roles, from a national vice-president at a fitness company to the founder of a roofing firm expanding across multiple states. Despite his busy schedule, he maintains a disciplined routine, rising early to manage his correspondences with minimal sleep.

Hull has restructured his racing team, renaming it Hull Racing to reflect his family values, especially with the arrival of his son, Maverick. He believes in a family-centric approach to life and racing, wanting to eventually pass this legacy to his son. Hull has backed his operation with seasoned tuners Mike Guger and Johnny West, aiming to benefit from their combined expertise.

Despite facing numerous challenges, including a rocky start with 28 consecutive losses, Hull is determined to succeed in his new role. He’s thankful for the mentors who guided him but acknowledges the need to carve out his own path. After enduring a serious hand injury that kept him sidelined for part of the season, he now focuses on being competitive in funny cars, which align more with his experience and passion.

His goal is clear: to establish a presence in the winners’ circle as a team owner while enjoying the journey alongside his family. Hull’s tenacity and strategic mindset set him apart as he navigates the complexities of racing ownership.
