Blake Bowser has successfully revived the California Hot Rod Reunion during his second year in charge, transforming it into a vibrant event praised by both attendees and Hall of Fame journalist Dave Wallace. The 2025 edition, marked by push-starts and Nitro Revival’s nighttime cacklefests, recaptured the essence of the reunion’s origins, thanks to collaboration with Steve and Cindy Gibbs. Bowser’s strategic “crawl-walk-run” approach culminated in a packed venue, making attendees nostalgic for the event’s early days.

Despite this success, Bowser remains focused on further growth, aiming for a 20% increase in attendance each year, while balancing the demands of both the Reunion and the March Meet. He recognizes the potential challenge of the Reunion outgrowing the March Meet but views this as a “good problem” that reflects healthy competition and an evolving fanbase.

The weekend was also emotionally significant, highlighted by NHRA President Glen Cromwell presenting replenished Wally trophies to Steve Gibbs, symbolizing reconciliation and shared commitment to drag racing’s legacy. This moment encapsulated the spirit of the community, eliciting strong emotional reactions from the audience.

Bowser’s commitment to nurturing nostalgia drag racing at Famoso is evident, as he aims to blend tradition with modern expectations. The 2025 Reunion not only demonstrated the vitality of the nostalgia movement but also affirmed Bowser’s efforts to make the event a cornerstone of the NHRA Heritage Series. The excitement among fans and racers validates his vision and hard work over the past year.
