The IMSA Michelin GT Challenge recently celebrated its 10th consecutive event at the picturesque Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in Alton, Virginia. This prestigious race focuses solely on GTD Pro and GTD classes, excluding Prototypes, ensuring thrilling action across the scenic 3.27-mile track known for its long straights and challenging elevation changes. Participating teams include well-known manufacturers like Lamborghini, Lexus, Acura, AMG Mercedes, Aston Martin, BMW, and the American muscle favorite, Chevy Corvette, as well as the new Ford Mustang GT3.

The event, held on a perfect weekend, featured not only the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship races but also included the multi-class IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (GT4 and TCR), double-header races of the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup, and the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge that showcased LMP3 Prototypes alongside GT4 and GT3. Additionally, the Ford Performance Racing School’s Mustang Challenge provided exciting races in Mustang Dark Horse R cars.

This year’s race at VIR showcased some of the best road course competition in the nation, making it a remarkable experience for motorsport enthusiasts. The combination of diverse racing formats and high-caliber teams contributed to a spectacular event celebrating the rich tradition of sports car racing in America.
