Following the closure of Bandimere Speedway in 2023, the Bandimere family is dedicated to reviving professional drag racing in the Denver, Colorado area. They have recently acquired a significant 114-acre property in Weld County, approximately 28 miles northeast of Denver. John Bandimere Jr., who managed the original speedway for 48 years, stated that this acquisition is just the first step in a complex journey toward restoring their racing legacy, which began in 1958.

In a social media statement, he emphasized the challenges of this undertaking and the family’s commitment to their vision, stressing the need for patience and public support. The acquisition marks the beginning of various negotiations regarding adjacent properties, with future zoning and annexation processes expected to unfold.

The Bandimere family surrendered the original speedway to developers in 2023 due to increasing pressures from surrounding developments, leading to its sale to Copart, a California-based auction company. Following its closure, plans for the redevelopment of the property have been initiated, further changing the landscape of local racing history. Despite setbacks, the Bandimere family remains hopeful about the future of drag racing in the area and promises to keep the community updated on their progress.
