ICU Racing

Angelle Sampey, a three-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champion with over 40 Nationals wins, once grappled with her love for drag racing, feeling disillusioned despite her success. “I was just hating life,” she admitted, and stepping away from the sport initially appeared to be the end. However, support from her friend and former teammate Antron Brown reignited her passion when he invited her to drive a Top Alcohol Dragster.

Although she had no experience in dragsters and was hesitant, Sampey trusted Brown completely. This leap of faith proved fruitful, leading her to impressive finishes, including finals at the U.S. Nationals and her first Top Alcohol win. With Brown’s guidance, her confidence surged, and she adjusted to the enclosed cockpit of the dragster—a stark contrast to her prior experiences.

Sampey noted the benefits of the canopy, allowing her to feel more in tune with the vehicle. She’s also strategizing for a potential future in Top Fuel, as her current dragster is a backup from Brown’s Top Fuel team. Throughout her journey, Sampey values the camaraderie with fellow drivers, including Tony Stewart, while relying on Brown’s mentorship, which has significantly shaped her career.

Now revitalized, she embraces new challenges and goals, feeling happier and more energetic than ever. Sampey is not merely reflecting on her past but actively rewriting her legacy, with a bright horizon ahead.
