Matt Alvey and Alison Prose emerged as winners at the NHRA Midwest Nationals held at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, IL. Alvey captured his first NHRA National event trophy in Competition Eliminator by defeating Scott Chamness in a close final, running an 8.614 at 155 mph. Prose celebrated her back-to-back victory in Super Comp, overpowering Doug Miller with a run of 8.891 at 182 mph.

In addition to Alvey and Prose, other winners included Kevin Helms in Super Stock, who snagged his 30th Wally after Brett Speer red-lighted in the final. Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. triumphed in Stock Eliminator, defeating Dennis Lund. Phil Unruh took the win in Super Gas by outpacing Nathan Prose, while Dan Lafferty earned his first Wally in Top Sportsman, defeating Curt Fredrich.

The event also saw semi-finalists like Christine Harris Samuel (Competition Eliminator), Nick Morris and Hidalgo Jr. (Super Stock), Larry Deforrest and Jeff Strickland (Stock Eliminator), TC Smith and Ken Mostowich (Super Comp), TC Smith and Charlie Stewart (Super Gas), and Darian Boesch (Top Sportsman).
