Jason Collins secured his first victory in the JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series at the Southern Nationals held at South Georgia Motorsports Park on May 3, 2026. This marked his second career start in the series, where he triumphed over Mike Thielen in the final round with a time of 5.731 seconds at 252.99 mph. Collins, who qualified second, dominated the competition and showcased impressive skill, notably hitting a reaction time of .009 on the starting line.

Collins expressed gratitude to his family and his crew, attributing his success to their support and the performance of his racing team, which has only faced one failure in 27 runs. He had previously shown promise during his debut in Charlotte and continued to improve in front of a sellout crowd at SGMP.

Throughout the event, Collins eliminated competitors Mason Wright, Sidnei Frigo, and Lyle Barnett. Thielen reached the finals by defeating J.R. Gray, Mike Stavrinos, and Derek Menholt, who is currently trailing points leader Justin Bond by just two points.

The JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will return to action from May 14-17 for the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway in Chicago. The points standings highlight Justin Bond leading with 278 points, followed closely by Derek Menholt with 276 and Mike Stavrinos with 264.
