Sick Week 2026 solidified its status as a premier drag-and-drive event, where competitors endure both challenging drives and unpredictable weather. This year, temperatures plummeted, adding to the difficulties as racers aimed for a $10,000 bounty by attempting to average five seconds during the event. Despite high hopes, none succeeded, with key competitors like Jeff Lutz dropping out early and Bryant Goldstone crashing.

The Unlimited class became a fierce battleground, with notable participants like Tom Bailey and Stefan Gustafsson facing difficulties, ultimately leading to Josh Davis appearing as a frontrunner until a fire at Orlando eliminated him. In the end, Niklas Lindrin’s 1967 Pontiac Firebird secured the Unlimited title with a 6.490 average, just ahead of Nick Cryer’s 1933 Ford Coupe.

In Unlimited Iron, Les Smith narrowly beat Alex Taylor, while Alan Whitaker demonstrated steady performance in the Heavy Metal class, posting a 7.001 average. Val Morris edged out Chris Benoure in Modified, while Nick Rinehart and Bradley Arnold achieved victories in Pro Street and Super Street, respectively.

Overall, merely finishing such a grueling event is a commendable achievement for participants, highlighting the unique challenges and camaraderie found in drag-and-drive competitions. Each racer left with tales of resilience and passion for their craft as they traversed some of the top racing venues in the country.
