Alexis DeJoria achieved a significant milestone at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, clocking a 3.948-second pass at 328 mph, which secured her the provisional No. 1 qualifier on Friday. This performance marks her first No. 1 of the season and her seventh career top qualifier position, a first since 2021. Expressing surprise but satisfaction, DeJoria credited her team, Mike Neff and Todd Smith, for executing their planned strategy effectively.

Bristol has special significance for DeJoria, who won at this venue in 2021 and enjoys the unique racetrack atmosphere. She described it as her favorite location, noting its distinctive acoustics during races. The track conditions posed challenges, leading the team to adopt a cautious approach due to humidity and heat, as they aimed to minimize risks while maximizing performance.

DeJoria highlighted the rapid development of her new team, formed during the offseason, consisting of experienced members working together for the first time. Their quick success in the early season has fostered strong team chemistry. She acknowledged that every bonus point garnered during races contributes to their overall progress and morale. This provisional top spot is indicative of the positive trajectory her team is on, embracing change and improvement as they advance in the competition.
