Josh Peake and Doug Foley Jr. have stepped into leadership roles at the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) with a commitment to the sport stemming from their deep-rooted backgrounds. Peake, who became president in April, shared his journey from starting-line official to executive, expressing that his trackside experience offers a unique perspective compared to those with solely business backgrounds. He feels honored to lead and prefers making challenging race-day decisions over public speaking, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and adaptability in tackling challenges.

Foley, the executive race director, also brings a rich heritage in racing and experience from managing tracks. He noted the personal significance of balancing his role while witnessing his father compete, highlighting the unique pride that comes from working on events where family competes.

Both men focus on work ethic and determination rather than titles, underscoring their commitment to outworking competitors. They are keen to cultivate a culture of leadership through example as the IHRA aims to restore its reputation and create a genuine drag racing experience. Under Darrell Cuttel’s ownership, the organization seeks to engage fans and participants alike. Peake and Foley are prepared for a demanding season, reflecting the grassroots spirit of the sport, dedicated to ensuring success through visibility, engagement, and accountability both on and off the track.
