The debut of the S650 Mustang brought attention to its enhanced Gen-4 Coyote engine and the potential for boosted performance. As enthusiasts explored tuning options, Boyd Bumbera of Bumbera’s Performance introduced an innovative top-mount twin-turbo setup specifically designed for the 2024 Mustang GT. While many competitors focus on bottom-mount kits, Bumbera aims to offer a unique advantage. The top-mount configuration can enhance airflow, allowing for a better “ram-air” effect and a simpler oiling system due to gravity drainage, making for a cleaner installation.

The prototype Mustang, featuring stock internals and custom parts, achieved impressive results on the dyno, producing 638 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque at 6 pounds of boost with 104-octane gas. Even on pump gas, it recorded strong numbers, showcasing the potential of the turbo kit without requiring extensive modifications. Bumbera’s setup also addresses concerns about boost limits in manual models, effectively operating in a daily driver capacity without issues.

Bumbera’s Performance plans to refine the kit further before bringing it to market, conducting rigorous testing to ensure optimal heat management and performance under various conditions. As tuning capabilities expand, enthusiasts and racers can anticipate even higher horsepower outputs for the 2024 Mustang. Bumbera’s innovative approach positions his work as a game-changer in the pursuit of high-performance Mustang builds, paving the way for turbocharged cars to dominate.
