The That Racing Channel crew took their modified 2020 Ford F-150 to Orlando Speed World, aiming to achieve an 8-second quarter-mile run. Equipped with over 1,700 horsepower, the truck quickly showcased its capabilities by making a remarkable first pass of 8.82 seconds at 160 mph on just 22 psi of boost, leaving the crew thrilled and eager for more. Initially intended for an eighth-mile hit, the truck’s impressive performance compelled them to push further.

Underneath its work truck appearance, the F-150 boasts significant upgrades, including a FFRE Gen 3 Coyote engine, twin Precision 6466 NextGen turbos, specialized transmission, and reinforced drivetrain components. Coordinated tuning efforts by Lund Racing aimed to optimize the vehicle’s performance for the next run.

However, complications arose during the subsequent attempt when the truck experienced severe tire shake and later reported a check engine code from its 4×4 system. Troubleshooting revealed that a nut had vibrated off the actuator responsible for engaging and disengaging the four-wheel drive, leading to various operational issues. In light of the potential for severe damage, the crew decided to halt testing for the day.

With plans to replace the malfunctioning 4×4 actuator and control module, the team remains committed to improving their F-150’s performance, setting their sights on achieving runs in the 8.50-second range, proving that this truck is far from an ordinary work vehicle.
